Around 1980, previous owners had added the room over an existing concrete patio. The patio sloped away from the house, and they simply put pad and carpeting over the concrete for the floor. I moved in a few months ago, and at this point, not only was the carpet ready to go, but more importantly the floor had a serious enough slope that I could not use the room fully. So I wanted to put in a new floor, and after some research I decided a concrete floor was the way to go for me. I found Frank on Angie&#8217;s List and he responded promptly to my call. We arranged for him to come to my house a few days later. Frank arrived on time, surveyed the situation, and gave me a very competitive estimate. We arranged for him to do the job three weeks later, which he thought would take 1-2 days depending on how tough it was to remove the old concrete, On the appointed day, Frank and his crew arrived right on time and got right to work.<br \/>Frank&#8217;s men carefully moved out everything in the room, ripped up the existing carpeting and began jack-hammering the floor to get rid of the old floor. After a lot of hard work (and I could see that this concrete was difficult to remove), all the old concrete was out and they put down gravel, etc.to make a proper foundation for a new level floor.<br \/>At this point, we realized that because of the way the addition had been built, it would be impossible &#8212; without a lot more work and expense &#8212; to have a totally level floor that would meet the French doors to the outside and still have a proper code height step from the house into the room After we discussed various options, Frank came up with a simple and cost-effective solution that would keep the step height to code, and keep the floor absolutely level where we needed it level, and allow for a very slight slope in the area where that was not a problem. The concrete truck came and they poured the concrete as Frank planned. They troweled the floor smooth, and it was dry enough to walk on the next day. It turned out exactly as Frank had planned it, and I now have a 3-season room with a great looking floor that lets me use it fully &#8212; and its level as promised.<br \/>Frank and his men could not have more pleasant. A minor change was made prior to pouring and I was very thankful he took the time to speak with me. Project took 1.5 days and looks great. Crew treats their trade like an art form being very committed to the final product.
